Donner Lake, Truckee California. Last day shooting

So, it looks like today was the last day of shooting before I go back to San Francisco. I might do a couple of long exposures out back tonight, but that will really be it. Lugging a 70 pound camera across the United States has made me tired all over, and I’m looking forward to being home.

Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming

Today was a short one. I took three shots, the Orange Spring Mound at Mammoth Spring’s upper terrace, Castle Geyser , near Old Faithful, and Old Faithful, which I have no photo record of because it started spewing as I was trying to setup. It was a rush job.

Badlands National Park, South Dakota

This was actually supposed to be yesterday’s post. I had no internet, and I needed a break!

Devils Tower National Monument, Wyoming

Deadwood, South Dakota

Here is a view of Deadwood from the Mount Moriah Cemetery. Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane are buried here.

Kalona, Iowa

It started to rain just as I was getting the shots today. This old barn was just outside Kalona Iowa, a largely Amish community.

Niagara Falls – In Photos

The top photo is the town of New London, and the bottom two are from the Seaside Sanatorium in Waterford. I’m hoping to get two more photos when we go into New Haven later today. Tomorrow morning we drive to Niagara Falls.

New York City

We finally got the New York shots today. I really wanted to get it right so I mapped out my shots. One film holder failed, but I’ll get the photos, they’ll just have that light-leaked film look on the edges. Today’s lesson, when you’re in a sensitive place such as a port in the NYC area and it’s after sunset, and the port authority police stop you, you could possibly go to jail. Unless of course your dad happens to… (more…)

Lincoln Memorial, Washington DC

Tonight was the only chance I had to shoot in DC. It’s very difficult to park here, and the huge crowds of people limited my options significantly. I got a shot of the Lincoln Memorial and another of the Washington Monument. On to Philadelphia tomorrow.
