Discovery Channel Canada aired my story yesterday on their show Daily Planet. They did such a great job! I remember being frustrated by the strong winds, which can turn the camera into a giant sail, hardly suitable conditions for shooting. I couldn’t figure out how to embed the video, but you can see it here.
Yesterday, Discovery Channel Canada came to SF and interviewed me for a show called Daily Planet. We took the camera to Crissy Field after almost getting blown over by some high winds in the headlands. It certainly wasn’t my best day out. Most of the film was under-exposed. I double exposed one sheet, and the strong winds blurred at least 2 photos, including the one I posted here. We went back to my apartment following the shoot and interview, where I proceeded to develop a couple of sheets to demonstrate the process. With exception to the way my negatives came out, it was a great day. The show will air in Canada, then it will be available from their website. I’ll post the details when I have them.

The Inclusions Gallery in San Francisco is having its fourth annual year-end retrospective, November 30 – January 15. I’ll be showing 5 of my prints from the From the Road exhibition, along with 1 new print. Come check it out if you’re in the area.
Popular Science posted this video from my shoot/interview on Treasure Island back in June. You can see the full article here
I made the front page of makezine.com today. Pretty exiting stuff. The next print edition of MAKE should be available mid October, and I’ll have a page in there somewhere.
The exhibition “From The Road” closes today, and I’m happy to announce that the photos can be viewed at my site darrensamuelson.com. Not all of the photographs in this series made it to the gallery, but I’ve included them here.
